opportunities, resources, & more
Are you a High School to Art School alum? We have some opportunities just for you. Read below for job and scholarship opportunities, as well as ways to stay connected with the program.
Every year, we offer a set of scholarships and opportunities exclusively to HS2AS alumni! We also prioritize HS2AS alums for our open calls for visiting artists and teaching artists.
PAID WORK OPPORTUNITIES
Are you a Queens teen, age 14-19 years old? Do you want an intense and fun creative experience that will introduce you to professional artists, connect you to your community, teach you new skills, and look great on a college application?
Get paid $150 to participate in WHOOP DEE DOO as a member of the ensemble. You will work alongside Whoop Dee Doo artists for a 2-week creation and rehearsal process. Participating teens will take on a variety of roles based on their interests, including scenery design and construction, costume design, acting, stage management, and more! Apply by June 15!
qca gala sketch artists
Every year, QCA hires three HS2AS alumni to sketch 60-second portraits of guests during our gala at the Knockdown Center. Previously, alumni have used this as an opportunity to network with the 200 artists, funders, and cultural leaders that attend the event.
ANNUAL Queens emerging artist business prize
In 2017, we launched the annual Queens Emerging Artist Business Prize in partnership with KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency). Since then, with the help of an annual corporate sponsor, we’ve given away $13,000 in unrestricted funds to HS2AS alumni for their graphic design entries.
Queens Emerging Artist Business Prize applications are currently closed. Check back in the Summer of 2019 for more details on the Third Annual prize opportunity.
annual hs2as alumni exhibitions
Every Spring, we host an exhibition in one of NYC’s premiere galleries, offering alumni the opportunity to show in a professionally curated exhibition. Previous locations have included Juvenal Reis Gallery, Edison Price Lighting Gallery, and this year - Plaxall Gallery !
